Who am I?
I have no respect for justice. I maim without killing. I break hearts and ruin lives. I am cruel and malicious and gather strength with age. The more I am quoted, the more I am believed. I flourish at every level of society. My victims are helpless. They cannot protect themselves against me because I have no name and no face. To track me down is impossible. The harder you try, the more elusive I become. I'm nobody's friend. Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same. I topple governments and ruin marriages. I destroy careers and cause heartache and sleepless nights. I wreck churches and separate Christians. I spawn suspicion and generate grief, make innocent people cry on their pillows. Even my name hisses.
For many of us life is somewhat normal. We move from day to day wihtout overwhelming issues or concerns. All and all things are pretty good. The following video is about a young man who did not have this experience yet he demonstrates an attitude that many of us ought to have.

Dr. Steven J. Lawson is the senior pastor of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, having served as a pastor in Arkansas and Alabama for twenty-five years. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University (B.B.A.), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.), and Reformed Theological Seminary (D.Min.). He is the author of numerous books, including The Expository Genius of John Calvin; Foundations of Grace; Psalms, Volume I (Psalms 1-75), Psalms, Volume II (Psalms 76-150), and Job in the Holman Old Testament Commentary Series; Famine in the Land: A Passionate Call to Expository Preaching; Absolutely Sure; Made in Our Image; and Faith Under Fire. His books have been translated into various languages around the world, including Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, and the Indonesian language. He has contributed several articles to Bibliotheca Sacra, The Southern Baptist Journal of Theology, Faith and Mission, Decision magazine, and Discipleship Journal, among other journals and magazines. He is president of New Reformation, a ministry designed to bring about biblical reformation in the church today. He serves on the Executive Board of The Master's Seminary and College, teaches expository preaching at The Master's Seminary in the doctor of ministry program, and teaches in The Expositor's Institute at Grace Community Church. Dr. Lawson has participated in the Distinguished Scholars Lecture Series at The Master's Seminary, lecturing in 2004 on "Expository Preaching of the Psalms." He also serves on the Advisory Council for Samara Preachers' Institute & Theological Seminary in Samara, Russia.

This past Sunday my wife and I visited the place where General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson died on May 10, 1863. Amazingly (and ignorant to us both) we visited on the 136th anniversary of his death. General Jackson was a dominant force during the war. He was also a God fearing man who trusted in the absolute sovereignty of God in everything he did.
Here I am standing outside the actual house where Gen. Jackson died. This building was the "office" of the plantation owners in 1863. This is where Gen. Jackson was treated for his wounds suffered by friendly fire outside Chancellorsville. Five different doctors labored to save his life however Gen. Jackson eventally died from pneumonia on May 10, 1863.
